From Nosh 4 Students – Vegetable Soup. Substitution: vegetable stock for chicken stock. Simple and hearty soup, keeps for a few days.
I have this for breakfast most days. Sometimes I do overnight oats instead, and if I’m in a rush I’ll have a nut butter on wholemeal toast. I make the porridge with water or soya milk, and vary the toppings. I usually use a lot of nuts, seeds and a bit of dried fruit.
From Vegetarian Nosh 4 Students – Dream Bars. Substitution: Pure Soya for butter, cornflakes for rice crispies*. I didn’t heat the sugar for long enough and these ended up as (delicious) frosted cornflakes. * A lot of cereal isn’t vegan because of what they use to add the vitamins (often lanolin from sheep’s wool). I couldn’t find any […]
From Vegetarian Nosh 4 Students – Chickpea and Feta Salad. Substitution: Violife non dairy cheese for feta cheese. I would have used homemade cashew cheese but didn’t have any cashews. Really simple, really tasty salad.

As some of you know Alice and I took part in the CLASP charity walk last year, and to those of you who supported and donated a massive, massive thank you! I’ve decided to do the walk again this year, as we need to keep the momentum around these issues going! Please donate/donate again if […]
#100DaysofFarthingWood I’ve been really out of touch with drawing. To get back into it I’m going to do the “how to draw _____” in each Farthing Wood Friends magazine. This was what got me into drawing when I was a kid and fuelled a desire to invent characters when I was older. Watch this space
2014 was particularly empty gig-wise. For someone who usually goes to 10+ gigs a year, it was a sad time! I love live music, each experience is beyond worth it! This was Big Gig Week as I had four booked – Muse were a late, wonderfully unexpected addition to three Placebo gigs. My two favourite […]
We went to the wonderfully weird Noel Fielding exhibition at the Royal Albert Hall for Mother’s Day. I loved the colours of this painting and decided to do a rough version on my nails. It reminded me of the Groke from the Moomins… The exhibit was really good, definitely a couple of pieces there I […]
My fun new years resolution was delayed this year, but I am very happy I can finally start sharing it with you. In the run up to Christmas I got my hands on a Wreck This Journal. These books are very popular on the internet at the moment, and serve as an invitation for you […]
It sounds like a misnomer doesn’t it? Dairy free mac and cheese? The dish which is almost entirely dairy? And yet, it is entirely possible. There are tons of great dairy free and vegan recipes out there, often involving cheese substitutions or cashew nuts. I’ve been experimenting with Tesco’s (UK) new Free From non-dairy range, […]
