Here is a bunch of stuff I did, thought, said and looked at in 2014.
Went to the library for one small thing, came out with two big things. Book addict! I’ve never read a comic/graphic novel before so this should be interesting.
I have been on a ridiculous book binge lately. I’ve read 35 this year, 10 of those in the last month. Going to the library has been hard because I’ve wanted to bring ALL the books home. Needless to say I’m allowing the indulgence, although not all at once. Brought home these two because they’re on my many lists. Bring on the Stephen King nightmares and Tolstoy madness.
The tears are still drying on my face and I have spent the last half an hour spacing out and returning to it in my mind. This seems as good a time as any to share my feelings about the Harry Potter series; I have just finished my second read through of the books.
When I was growing up, The Famous Five was the one series of books that I read over and over again. Even now, I will occasionally go back and read a few of them. I still get a huge kick out of watching them solve their mysteries, and they’re fun to read.
I’m having a week of extreme doing. When I say extreme doing, I don’t mean working myself into the ground. Rather, creating a silence so I can hear myself think again.
The habit of working in the morning and having free time in the afternoon has definitely kicked in. I’m not complaining, it’s wonderful that people keep wanting to give me work! It has meant that this month wasn’t quite what I envisioned, but it has been reassuring and may mean that I can spend a […]
Another day, another run. More scrambled eggs. Another blissful hour of reading and writing (a soon to be published post about luck and my kitchen tap).
The other half is an excellent cook. He received Delia’s Complete How to Cook for his birthday and since then he’s made one meal and one desert almost every weekend. I’m going to share some pictures of the delicious things he’s made, and as for the book, I’d recommend it to anyone! The resulting food […]
Everyone told me it would happen, and it did (as evidenced on the reviews page – most of those are after I finished all my work, or as I was finishing). I’ve been stuck on fiction for months, mostly the Kathy Reichs series. I’m now up to the latest book and awaiting a copy at […]
2/5 I don’t know where to start with this book. I’ve not read ‘The Rainbow’, nor have I ever read any other D. H. Lawrence books, so I had no expectations or frame of reference. I picked it up for £1.50 about three years ago and read about three pages while I was waiting at […]
I read this one in full and it was pretty interesting stuff. Like ‘How to be a graphic designer without losing your soul’ it has lots of tips and things you can expect entering the design world. It has case studies and interviews and McCormack has some good life experience to share. Well worth picking […]
