This is a bit of a random post to introduce something I’m planning on doing in 2014. I really enjoyed the “fun” resolution of listening to a record all the way through each week (post to be updated prior to the end of the year), and wanted another “fun” one to add to all my usual goals and habits. 2014 is going to be about nails!
I’ve been complimented on my hands/nails a lot in the past, and somehow painting my nails has become the thing I always do. I have over 55 different nail polishes that I’ve collected over the years, and in the last 18 months I have been dabbling with nail art.
I quite like the challenge of fitting something creative into a small space, that still looks really good. I got quite into layering via a sponge, and I’m also quite fond of glitter. Who doesn’t like a little sparkle at the ends of their fingertips? I spend a lot of time typing on a keyboard, and sometimes seeing something pretty/cool/fun flying over the keys can be a little pick-me-up.
So, prior to launching the one-mani-a-week-for-2014, I’ve gone through what photos I have of my nails from the last 18 months. Doing so has enabled me to see what needs work: mostly, cleaning up the edges prior to photography and taking better photographs. I also didn’t know that it’s advisable to remove striping tape while the polish is still wet.
I am going to be coming up with weekly themes, with some wildcards and maybe some audience participation. My main goal is to use every single nail polish/pen/tool in my arsenal by the end of the year.
