It sounds like a misnomer doesn’t it? Dairy free mac and cheese? The dish which is almost entirely dairy? And yet, it is entirely possible. There are tons of great dairy free and vegan recipes out there, often involving cheese substitutions or cashew nuts. I’ve been experimenting with Tesco’s (UK) new Free From non-dairy range, […]
Here is a bunch of stuff I did, thought, said and looked at in 2014.
Time constraints dictated a simple Christmas nail. I went with a present wrapping ribbon and bow. Note: allowing the lower layer to dry properly is a huge must when using striping tape!
An early Christmas treat—Alice and I visited Warner Bros Studio Tour for the second time, to experience “Hogwarts in the Snow”. I took my SLR for this visit, but only my fixed lens. Zoom would have been useful in this context, but there are still plenty of photographs…
This is my second attempt at water marbling. It is not easy and there are some obvious problems with these (the red’s merged with the white in some cases, didn’t manage the pattern I actually wanted, left index finger over-splodged). For a second attempt though I’m pretty happy. I have a better understanding of the […]
I went for an icy theme over festive to start with. I used the cling film/sandwich bag method to mix blues and silvers. One of my friends said they reminded her of the Frozen colours.
I wanted my nails in tip top condition for the Christmas season, so took this opportunity for a break. You can see that they weren’t looking too happy, a break, some staining (green!!) and rough cuticles. They’re being treated with some Burt’s Bees moisturisers and will be cut down next week.
Went for something a little bit steampunk-y in honour of my brother’s birthday!
“Lazy” space nails, themed for the Infinite Monkey Cage recording I went to. Didn’t have time to do lovely galaxy nails, so went for sparkles.
I’d originally planned to use the lace as a sort of mask, but tests didn’t work. I ended up putting the lace directly on the nail. I think a more delicate lace would work better. Still looked pretty cool.
I love these. Used white pen on top of black to make the firework outlines. Used gold glitter pens to make the sparkles and then used different, chunky, round glitters to make the sparkle flurries. Might have to do a little twinkle-video!
Used the sandwich bag technique again. I had something more elaborate in mind, but there’s always next year!
